Essential Basic Information on OCI Services

(Please Read Carefully Before Doing Anything else):

  1. All applications submitted to the Embassy of India should have attached a bank receipt showing that the required fee amount (as shown in the Schedule of Fee) has been deposited in the Embassy of India’s Bank Account which is as follows:-

  1. Please note that no cash/cheque/credit cards/ debit cards or any other form of payments will be accepted by the Embassy
  2. It may please be noted that fees, once paid, will not be refunded, even if the application is withdrawn or service is denied/not rendered.
  3. When submitting your application to the Embassy, please fill in all the information online in the appropriate form, upload necessary photos and then take a print out of the form, sign it and bring the hard copy to the Embassy with all supporting documents (originals as well as photocopies) including the Bank Receipt.

(NOTE - For OCI CARD applications, only original documents have to be presented for examination and no photocopies are required. The original documents will be returned after scrutiny, and photocopies will be retained by the Embassy).

  1. Please note that the any application which is incomplete in any way will not be accepted. Therefore, please check that you have filled in all columns correctly, signed wherever required, and attached all required supporting documents.

OCI SERVICE

  1. New Registration:

            (Before filling in the form please read the given Instructions carefully)

  • Upload Photograph and signature (thumb impression in case of baby)
  • Upload the following documents:

            (a) Proof of present citizenship- copy of applicant’s valid Foreign Passport

            (b) Copy of Birth/Marriage certificate certificate as the case may be

            (Foreign documents like Birth/Marriage certificate are to be uploaded only after getting them translated in english and apostilled by the Foreign Office)

            (c) Documents in support of the PIO status of the applicant.

  • The print out of application to be sent after appending signature.
  • The original Foreign Passport and Birth or Marriage certificate, as the case may   be, to be sent for verification purpose.
  • Self attested copy of Passport & RUT
  • Attach fee payment receipt after depositing the appropriate fee in Embassy’s account. Fee schedule is available on the Embassy’s website.
  • Full postal address with cell phone and RUT numbers in order to post the OCI card upon receipt from India. 
  • The above mentioned documents may be sent to the Embassy by Post or delivered physically.

 

  1. Re-issue of OCI Card on Change of passport/Change of personal particulars/ Loss/damage of OCI card.

            (Before filling in the form please read the given Instructions carefully)

  • Upload Photograph and signature (thumb impression in case of baby)
  • Upload the following documents:

            (a) For re-issue of OCI card on change of Passport- Self attested copy of New Foreign Passport, Old Passport and OCI card

            (b)For re-issue of OCI card on Change of personal particulars- Documents in support of new particular like address proof in case of change in address.

            (c) For re-issue of OCI card in lieu of lost OCI card- Self attested copy of lost OCI card and FIR lodged with police authorities regarding theft/loss of OCI card.

  • The print out of application to be sent after appending signature. 
  • The original documents like new Foreign Passport, Old Passport and OCI card also to be sent to the Embassy for verification purpose.
  • Attach fee payment receipt after depositing the appropriate fee in Embassy’s account. Fee schedule is available on the Embassy’s website.
  • Full postal address with cell phone and RUT numbers in order to post the new OCI card issued.
  • The above mentioned documents may be sent to the Embassy by Post or delivered physically.

 

  1. Conversion of PIO to OCI

            (Before filling in the form please read the given Instructions carefully)

  • Upload Photograph and signature (thumb impression in case of baby)
  • Upload the following documents:

            (a) Copy of Foreign Passport

            (b) Copy of PIO Card

  • The print out of application to be sent after appending signature.
  • The original Foreign Passport and PIO card also to be sent to the Embassy for verification purpose.
  • Attach fee payment receipt after depositing the appropriate fee in Embassy’s account. Fee schedule is available on the Embassy’s website.
  • Full postal address with cell phone and RUT numbers in order to post the new OCI card upon receipt from India.
  • The above mentioned documents may be sent to the Embassy by Post or delivered physically.

 

  1. OCI card needs to be re-issued each time a new passport is acquired by the cardholder up to the age of 20 years and once on acquiring a new passport after completing 50 years of age. Re-issuance of OCI card is not required each time a passport is issued to the cardholder between 21 and 50 years of age.
