Passport Information and miscellaneous consular services

Essential Basic Information on Passport Services

(Please Read Carefully Before Doing Anything else):

 

  1. All applications submitted to the Embassy of India should have attached a bank receipt showing that the required fee amount (as shown in the Schedule of Fee) has been deposited in the Embassy of India’s Bank Account which is as follows:-

  1. Please note that no cash/cheque/credit cards/ debit cards or any other form of payments will be accepted by the Embassy
  2. It may please be noted that fees, once paid, will not be refunded, even if the application is withdrawn or service is denied/not rendered.
  3. When submitting your application to the Embassy, please fill in all the information online in the appropriate form, upload necessary photos and then take a print out of the form, sign it and bring the hard copy to the Embassy with all supporting documents (originals as well as photocopies) including the Bank Receipt.
  4. Please note that the any application which is incomplete in any way will not be accepted. Therefore, please check that you have filled in all columns correctly, signed wherever required, and attached all required supporting documents.

PASSPORT AND RELATED SERVICE

  1. The Embassy of India, Santiago has been integrated with the Global Passport Sewa Project (GPSP). Therefore, Indian Citizens residing in Chile are henceforth required to apply for the services listed below only through the link: https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in
  • New Passport
  • Re-issue of Passport
  • Surrender of Indian Passport on acquiring Foreign Nationality
  • Issue of PCC

 

  1. Steps to be followed to apply online:
  • Open the link: https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in
  • Select the region as Americas and then country as Chile from where you are applying for passport/miscellaneous service 
  • Click on User login/Registration link to. You will get an activation email link in your email after successful sign-up.
  • Activate your account by clicking on the link received on your registered email address and using the option User Login, login with your registered email ID/User   Id and Password.
  • After successfully logging into the portal, click on the service that is required by you to access the appropriate form and proceed with filling in of the form.
  • Submit your application within 30 days to the Embassy.

 

How to apply for Passport and related services

 

  1. Re-issue of fresh Passport:

 

            (All the columns in the form should be completed)

  • Take print out of the duly filled in online application, sign in the box, paste recent photograph (size 2'' x 2'' with light background with 80% face area and showing shoulder). Attach self- attested copy of your passport (first and last pages) and copy of Chilean RUT. Send your original passport along.
  • For Minor’s passport, attach copies of his/her passport and parent’s passport. Attach fee payment receipt after depositing the appropriate fee in Embassy’s account. Fee schedule is available on the Embassy’s website. A letter giving reason for reissue of passport especially when change in passport particulars is requested. Provide your full postal address/contact no for despatch of the passport to you after issue. 
  • The above mentioned documents may be sent to the Embassy by Post or delivered physically.
  • Passports are re-issued on expiry of its validity(can be applied any time if validity remains less than a year), on exhaustion of visa pages, damage or loss and change in appearance or particulars.

 

  1. Issue of PCC
  • Fill-in online PCC application visiting the link:https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/   
  • Take print out of the duly filled in online application, sign in the box, paste recent photograph (size 2'' x 2'' with light background with 80% face area and showing shoulder). Self-attested copy of Indian passport (first and last pages)
  • Copy of your Chilean RUT/Visa Attach fee payment receipt after depositing the appropriate fee in Embassy’s account. Fee schedule is available on the Embassy’s website. Your full postal address with contact number in order to post/deliver the PCC to you. The above mentioned documents may be sent to the Embassy by Post or delivered physically.
  • The PCC will be issued by the Embassy only after receipt of clearance online from the relevant police authorities in India.

 

  1. Renunciation of Indian Citizenship and Surrender of Indian Passport

 

It is mandatory for all persons of Indian origin, who had ever held an Indian passport, to renounce their Indian citizenship and surrender their Indian Passport upon acquiring any foreign nationality. Holding Indian passport/traveling on Indian passport after acquisition of foreign citizenship constitutes an offence under the Indian Passport Act, 1967, and attracts penalties.

 

  1. How to apply for surrender of Indian Passport:

 

  • Fill-in appropriate application visiting the link: https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/
  • Take print out of the duly filled in online application, sign in the box, paste recent photograph (size 2'' x 2'' with light background with 80% face area and showing shoulder). 
  • Original Indian passport (which will be returned after cancellation) along with a copy of passport.
  • Foreign passport along with photocopy.
  • Form XXII – Declaration of Renunciation of Citizenship (Form to be attached here)
  • Attach fee payment receipt after depositing the appropriate fee in Embassy’s account. Fee schedule is available on the Embassy’s website. Your full postal address with contact number in order to post the surrender certificate. The above mentioned documents may be sent to the Embassy by Post or delivered physically.
