ESTABLISHMENT OF INDIAN COMMUNITY WELFARE FUND (ICWF) IN THE

EMBASSY OF INDIA, SANTIAGO
 

In compliance with Government of India´s directives, it has been decided to establish a Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) in the Embassy of India, Santiago.
 

Objective of the Scheme


Indian Community Welfare Fund is aimed at providing the following services to Indian nationals on a means tested basis in the most deserving case:


(i) Boarding and lodging for distressed overseas Indian workers in Household/domestic sectors and unskilled labourers.
(ii) Extending emergency medical care to the Overseas Indians in need
(iii) Providing air passage to stranded Overseas Indians in need
(iv) Providing initial legal assistance to the Overseas Indians in deserving cases,
(v) Expenditure on incidentals on the deceased overseas Indians in such cases where the sponsor is unable to/ unwilling to do so as per the contract and family is unable to meet the cost etc.
 

Source of funding


(i) Part budgetary support from the Government of India, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA).


(ii) Fund raising by the Indian Missions by levying Service charges on Consular services w.e.f. 01.07.2013 as per details given below:
