ANNUAL SURAJKUND INTERNATIONAL CRAFTS MELA
The Annual Surajkund International Crafts Mela is organized in the picturesque Surajkund Tourist resort of Haryana State, 8Kms from South Delhi. It is held from 1st to 15th February every year with in a specially created Rural Ambience. The event celebrates the collection of finest traditional product in Handlooms & Handicrafts and cultural events from all over India and also a good number of foreign countries.
The Mela is organized primarily under the aegis of the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Textiles, Department of Handicrafts, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India and the Tourism Department, Govt. of Haryana. The Surajkund Crafts Mela has now been upgraded to an international level and will showcase a fascinating display of exotic culture, ancient craft traditions and glimpses of heritage. It will attract weavers, craft persons, folk dancers, theatre groups and magicians who will leave a memorable impact on millions of visitors from India and abroad.
The organizers invite a group of 10 to 12 artistes from Chile to perform in the open stage specially designated for cultural performances and 2 to 5 crafts persons alongwith 2 of their helpers to showcase and sell their crafts during the Mela.
The organizers will be pleased to provide free boarding and lodging and local transportation arrangements including airport transfers free of cost during the Mela. Also, due courtesies will be extended to the visiting dignataries of the participating nations. Adequate publicity will be done for the cultural participants in the Print/Electronic Media.
