IMPORTANT NOTICE:

  • The embassy does not provide formal acknowledgments or updates regarding applications. Please refrain from calling or emailing to check the status or to confirm receipt of your application. Instead, kindly use the online status-tracking link to monitor your application’s progress. You can track it on the portal where you submitted your passport application.  Utilize your courier tracking number to confirm the delivery of your application to the embassy. You will receive an email when your passport is ready for collection.
  • Applicants must upload photographs and a signature. The photographs must comply with ICAO standards.
  • All the applicants are advised to track their courier bag to check the delivery date of their documents at embassy of India, Santiago and wait for 3-4 working days for processing of their application.  If the online status does not change in first 3-4 working days (a) application/ARN number, (b) passport number, (c) type of service applied for and (d) courier tracking number along with delivery date of their documents at Embassy of India, Santiago by courier or date of submission in person may be communicated to us via email at cons1.santiago@mea.gov.in.
  • All annexures are found on the page of the passport services along with the specifications for the photograph.
  • The same photograph should be sent along with the application, which has been uploaded in the portal. Applicants are encouraged to upload the additional documents/annexures at the time of filling in the application. This helps the Embassy to verify the documents at a faster pace and speeds up the process.
  • The information on this page is indicative and not exhaustive. The embassy of India, Santiago, reserves the right to seek for additional documents/information, if required.
  • Passport applications are required to be filled in online at  https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/  Best viewed in Internet Explorer 9.0 and above. Please try to fill the application on a laptop or computer. The Passport Portal is customised for view on laptop/computer. After completing application online, please print the filled form. The Form will show the Photograph and Signature uploaded by the Applicant. Kindly Note that NO FORM will be deemed accepted by the Embassy unless the photograph and the signature are uploaded. Submit the completed form to the Embassy of India, Santiago, Chile along with relevant documents and fee payment confirmation. 9.   To track online status of your passport application, please click on the given link   https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/TrackApplication and login with your Registration ID and Password which was used to submit your online application form, to understand the status of your passport application better. Please note that no separate acknowledgement email is sent. 

10. There is NO TATKAL or EMERGENCY SERVICE for Passport service.

11. Fees once received will not be refunded under any circumstances, even if the application is withdrawn by the applicant or services are not provided to the individual if his/her case does not qualify for that particular service.

12. The applicant should use the courier service (with tracking facility) of their choice and are advised to keep the tracking number with them. The Embassy of India will not accept any responsibility in case the courier is lost/misplaced/damaged or delayed, therefore it is suggested to not to send the application via ordinary post that cannot be tracked.

13. Applications for all PCC/Passport/Consular services can be submitted at the reception counter of Embassy of India from 1000 hours to 1230 hours on all working days except the Official Holidays. The List of Official Holidays can be found on the Embassy website

14. Please carefully fill the application, attach all relevant documents and send to the Embassy of India, Santiago.  Incomplete applications will not be processed which will cause delay in service.

 1. GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • Your passport is a valuable document. It should always be either in your own custody or in the custody of a person duly authorized by you. If lost or stolen, the fact and circumstances should immediately be reported to the local police station and police report obtained. The police report is mandatory to initiate the process for the re-issuance of the new passport in lieu of the lost/stolen passport.
  • It is an offence under the Passports Act, 1967 to furnish false information in the application. Passport facilities can be denied on grounds of suppression of factual information, submission of false particulars, wilful damage of passport and for making unauthorized changes in the passport.
  • Your passport can be impounded or revoked by the Government of India under the provisions of the Passports Act, 1967, in which event you will have to surrender the passport to the nearest Indian Mission.
  • Mode of Payment of Fees:

Applicants are requested not to send cash along with applications in the courier/Post. Such applications will be returned without processing. Embassy of India Santiago is not responsible for depositing cash on behalf of the applicants.

  • Please check with your courier company regarding delivery status of your application.
  • We are unable to entertain any telephonic/fax/e-mail queries regarding receipt of applications, status of passports or miscellaneous services before expiry of the time limit indicated for processing the different services.
  • Processing time of applications is reckoned from the date of receipt of COMPLETED APPLICATION FORMS at Embassy of India, Santiago.
  • A new passport can be applied for immediately on expiry, or up to 1 year before expiry, of any passport with an initial validity of 10 years. The application for a new passport should be submitted along with the existing passport and the requisite fee of CLP 71.000 for a 36-page passport booklet and CLP 94.100 for a 60-page passport booklet. It is MANDATORY to send the self-attested copies of your current passport (front and back) and the Chilean RUT Card (front and back) when documents are submitted to the Embassy.
  • A Minor up to the age of 15 years is issued a passport with a five-year validity for a fee of CLP 48.000/-. Attested copies of parents’ passports must accompany the minor’s passport application. A minor who has crossed 15 years of age may apply for a 10-year passport with full validity and will be charged as an adult. The application for a new passport should be submitted along with the existing passport and the requisite fee of CLP 71.000 for a 36-page passport booklet and CLP 94.100 for a 60-page passport booklet.
  • If more than one year has lapsed since the expiry of the Passport, the applicant will need to submit a letter duly notarised confirming that he has not acquired Chilean Citizenship and the reason for the delay in re-issuance of the Passport.
  • Usually, it takes up to 30 days (maximum) for the passport to be received at the Embassy. The Embassy of India, Santiago, does not print passports; all passports are currently printed in India and dispatched from there. In the cases where mandatory police clearance is required, the time can exceed 30 days.
  • Change in appearance: Applicants may apply for the re-issue of a valid passport for a change in appearance, subject to a personal interview with the Passport Officer, whenever required. This will also apply to SIKH applicants who intend to re-issue a valid passport due to a change in appearance from turbanised to clean-shaven photographs, and vice versa.
  • TATKAL Passport: This service has been suspended w.e.f. 25th November, 2015, as foreign Governments/Airlines may deny Travel, Visa or Entry to any person travelling due to strict enforcement of rules on Non-Machine-Readable Passports / Hand Written Passports.

 

2. First Passport for a Child born in Chile

A child born in Chile on or after 03.12.2004 shall be a citizen of India by descent, if either of the parents (father or mother) is an Indian citizen at the time of birth of the child and the birth of the child has been registered with The Embassy within one year of the birth. Parents of the child have to submit a declaration that the child does not hold passport of another country. The submitted declaration should be duly notarised.

  • All applicants must complete online Passport Application Form At: https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/ by creating a USER ID. Best viewed in Internet Explorer 9.0 and above. Passport Online Application should be accurately filled. APPLICANTS MUST UPLOAD PHOTOGRAPHS AND A SIGNATURE. THE PHOTOGRAPHS MUST COMPLY WITH ICAO STANDARDS. After you click on the link https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/ kindly click on the ‘APPLICANT LOGIN’ for the process to start.
  • Login using the newly created USER ID and fill in the user-friendly application form online at the same portal.
  • After submitting the form online, take a printout of the application.
  • Affix photo and put signatures at the designated place.

(i) Complete the birth registration form for Indian Citizenship by descent online at: https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/Home.aspx (please select last registration method from the list i.e. "Registration of birth of a minor child at an Indian Embassy under section 4(1) of the citizenship act, 1955"). In case of any difficulty in filling the form, please see the step by step guide .

The birth registration form must be signed by both parents AND must be duly notarised confirming the consent of both the parents for registration of the child as an Indian Citizen. (If both the parents are coming in person for submitting the application to Embassy, notarisation process is not required).

(ii) BIRTH OF THE CHILD MUST BE REGISTERED WITH EMBASSY OF INDIA, SANTIAGO WITHIN ONE YEAR.

(iii) Two recent photographs of 2 inches X 2 Inches (51mm X 51mm) with light background. Please paste one photo on the application. Do not staple/pin the photographs. Kindly use the same photograph for both the processes – Registration of the Birth and Issuance of First Passport.

(iv) Both parents' passports copy (Bio Page and back details page) duly self-attested.

(v) Both parents' Valid Chilean Visa / Valid Chilean RUT duly self-attested.

(vi) Parents' Marriage certificate copy.

(vii) Child's birth certificate copy – translated and apostilled.

(viii) Annexure "I" for issue of passport to the child born through surrogacy.

(ix) Annexure-C / Appendix-1 for a passport of a minor child by a single parent of the child born out of wed-lock (must be attested by Judicial Magistrate / Executive Magistrate / Oath Commissioner / Notary Public)

(x) Address proof: Please attach any one of the following: Water/Electric/Telephone/Gas connection bill/Lease Agreement.

(xi) Fee of CLP 24.900 for the Registration of the birth and CLP 43.400 for the passport.

3. Reissue of passport for children under age of 15 years

7. Reissue of passport in case of change of appearance/change of signature

Applicants may apply for re-issue of valid passport for change in appearance subject to personal interview with the passport officer, wherever required. This will also apply to SIKH applicants who intend to go for re-issue of valid passport, renewal of passport due to change of appearance from turbanised photograph to clean shaven photograph and vice versa. Passport can also be re-issued on the change of signature.

8. Reissue of passport in case of marriage/remarriage/divorce

  • All applicants must complete online Passport Application Form At: https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/ by creating a USER ID. Best viewed in Internet Explorer 9.0 and above. Passport Online Application should be accurately filled. APPLICANTS MUST UPLOAD PHOTOGRAPHS AND A SIGNATURE. THE PHOTOGRAPHS MUST COMPLY WITH ICAO STANDARDS. After you click on the link https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/ kindly click on the ‘APPLICANT LOGIN’ for the process to start.
  • Login using the newly created USER ID and fill in the user-friendly application form online at the same portal.
  • After submitting the form online, take a printout of the application.
  • Affix photo and put signatures at the designated place.
  • Passport Online Application should be accurately filled (Spouse name should be entered as per spouse’s passport).
  • Fees of CLP 71.000 for 36-page passport with 10-year validity / Fees of 94.100 for 60-page passport with 10-year validity.

10. Specifications for the Passport photos
Guidelines for ICAO Compliant Photographs for Passport Applications
Here are the photograph guidelines as per ICAO standards to be adhered to photograph capturing or uploading for passport services.

1. Close up of the head and top of the shoulders such that the face takes up 80-85% of the photograph.

2. The photograph should be in colour and dimensions should be 630*810 Pixels.

3. Photos should be unaltered by computer software.

4. Background of the photograph should be White.

5. The photographs must –

a. Show the applicant looking directly at the camera.

b. Show the skin tones naturally.

c. Have appropriate brightness and contrast.

d. Show the applicant's eyes open and clearly visible.

e. Should not have hair across the eyes.

f. Be taken with uniform lighting and not show shadows or flash reflections on the face and no red eye.

g. Mouth should not be open.

h. Be taken from distance of 1.5 meters from a camera (not too close).

i. Should not be blurred.

6. It should have full face, front view, eyes open.

7. Photo should be present full head from top of hair to bottom of chin.

8. Centre head within frame (head should not be tilted).

9. There should not be any distracting shadows on the face or in the background (should not have reflection of the glasses; glasses to be taken off to avoid reflections).

10. Illumination shall not cause any red eye effects visible in the eyes or other effects reducing the visibility of the eyes.

11. Head coverings are not permitted except for religious reasons, but the facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of the face must be clearly shown.

12. The expression on the face should look natural.

11. Processing times

  • Processing time for reissue of Indian Passport and Issuance of Fresh Passport in respect of new-born Children of Indian Parents in Chile is 3-4 days after receipt of completed application at Embassy, either by courier or submitted in person over the reception. Normally Embassy processes all the passport in time-span of 3-4 days.
  • All the applicants are advised to read the details thoroughly on Embassy Website before sending their applications, the incomplete applications would be returned. Please keep in mind that incomplete applications will lead to a delay in the processing of an application, and all applicant(s) are requested to comply with any changes that may occur during this time.

12. Status Enquiry

  1. Please note that no separate Acknowledgement email is sent for the applications delivered at Embassy via courier or submitted in person over the reception.
  2. To track online status of your passport application, please click on the given link https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/TrackApplication and login with your Registration ID and Password which was used to submit your online application form. To understand the status of your passport application better, please read the information given in the below table.
  3. All the applicants are advised to track their courier bag to check the delivery date of their documents at the Embassy and wait for 2-3 days for processing of their application. If the online status does not change in first 3-4 days, then only applicant may contact the Embassy with the following details: (a) Application/ARN Number, (b) Passport Number, (c) type of service applied for and (d) Courier tracking number along with delivery date of their documents at Embassy by courier or date of submission in person.
  4. No telephonic/e-mail queries regarding receipt or status of applications will be entertained before the time frame limit indicated for processing of the applications.

4. Your passport has been printed and being forwarded to Embassy/Consulate. The Embassy/Consulate will contact you once they receive the passport for dispatch. The international courier has been dispatched from India. It takes 8 to 12 days for delivery of international courier from India to Embassy. Once the courier is received at Embassy, the passport(s) would be sorted, stamped, checked, and prepared for dispatch or collection in respect of each applicant. 14. Emergencies

Holidays, business trips, confirmed bookings made before obtaining passport do not qualify as emergencies and will not be treated as such. Emergencies by definition refer to unexpected urgent situation. Emergency applications must be supported by documentary evidence.

15. Jurisdiction

The Embassy of India has the Jurisdiction over Chile and passport applications for the applicants resident in Chile will be processed. Others may approach their nearest Embassy/Consulate in their resident jurisdiction.

16. Timings

Applications for all passport/consular services are received at the counter from 1000 hours to 1230 hours on all working days.
